  •  Short term beach hut FAQs

These are frequently asked questions and answers for the seasonal beach huts in Hastings.

The seasonal short term hire beach huts are located on the lower promenade at Marina, these huts are removed from site outside of the season to prevent damage from large tides. Additional short term hire huts are available within the back row at West Marina, these huts are available to book year round aside from a short winter maintenance period.

The key needs to be collected from and returned to Community Contact Centre, Muriel Matters House, Breeds Place, Hastings, TN34 3UY.

Key collection  - Between 2.00 pm and 4.00pm on the first Friday of the hire period.
Key return  - Between 10.00 am and 12.00noon on the last Friday of the hire period.

Please advise us as soon as possible if you lose your key as we may need to change locks to ensure security. You will be issued a replacement if needed, but you may be required to pay for the lock.

If you find your hut damaged or vandalised please let us know as soon as you can so that we can action any repairs needed. Hirers are responsible for any loss or damage to any council property and/or equipment during the hire period.

You should not use the hut more than an hour before sunrise or an hour after sunset. The hirer is responsible for ensuring that noise is kept to a minimum to avoid disturbing neighbours and other users.

There are waste and recycling bins nearby on the promenade at Marina and West Marina. Hirers must ensure that all waste is disposed of at the end of the hire period, or may be subject to charges.

There are two designated bathing waters - Pelham beach and Marina beach. Bathing is only encouraged at these beaches where the water quality is monitored and a seasonal lifeguard service operates. People who swim elsewhere must consider their own health and safety. Safety signage near to the beach will tell you the risks for that area.

Public toilets are available at a number of seafront locations including the lower promenade next to Azur. The facilities operate on seasonal hours - during the summer months this site opens 7am to 9pm daily. These facilities include baby change, Female and Male toilet have changing tables and toddler seat.
External Shower, Internal Showers and Changing Facilities are included.

Users can park at a number of locations. Marina pay and display car park is located directly next to the seasonal hire huts at that site. At West Marina there is a small free to use car park at the rear of the huts, as well as free on street parking nearby at Sea Road.

No pets are allowed within beach huts or on the surrounding land, with the exception of privately owned beach huts.
