Orchids
Orchids are the most diverse group of flowering plants on the planet, most species are confined to the tropics and sub-tropics, but it is possible to see many wild orchid species in Northern Europe.
In Hastings many different species have been recorded including violet helleborines, bird's-nest orchid and green-winged orchids. Stunning displays of orchids can also be seen including common spotted orchids in Big Meadow (Marline Valley Nature Reserve), autumn lady's-tresses within Hastings Cemetery and bee orchids in West St Leonards.
